After struggling for most of the season, spending 12 weeks unranked, the Spartans got hot in the Big Ten Tournament and challenged Wisconsin for the tournament title, eventually losing in overtime. The Spartans kept their winning ways in the NCAA Tournament after receiving a number 7 seed in the East Region. They beat Georgia in their Second Round game and defeated higher seeded teams in Virginia, Oklahoma, and Louisville to reach their seventh Final Four since 1999.
